Seeds in Local Libraries Update

posted Dec 14, 2020, 10:34 AM by Leonie Croy   [ updated Dec 14, 2020, 3:39 PM ]

Although Gibsons Seed Sharing Library members are unable to use the interactive seed catalogue cabinet at this time due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Gibsons Seed Sharing Library is still functioning for all Coastal seed savers. Here’s how:

  1. A Seed Return Box is provided for you. If you have seeds to share, put them in envelopes or paper bags and slide them through the  slot on the side of the box. Seeds are collected weekly. The box is located in the Gibsons Library vestibule at the front entrance of the building.
  2. Returned seed will be redistributed to members at Seed Clinics to be held at the end of February, 2021 in the library vestibule. Details will be posted soon.
  3. Members will be contacted with a list of available seed to choose from

The Gibsons Seed Sharing Library was started in 2018 as a partnership between the Gibsons & District Library and the Sunshine Coast Seed Saving Collective.

The vintage card catalogue cabinet was purchased with donations from the Collective, Gibsons Library and members of the community.

Membership to the Seed Sharing Library is open to all Sunshine Coast residents.
